Jesus Christ, Son of the Father

Written by Robin Prijs.

All kingdoms have a representative that represents their way of thinking and their way of living. These representatives are better known as ambassadors. Not everyone can become an ambassador. You must have the right qualifications to become one and you must support the way of thinking and living of your country. Being an ambassador is not a one man show, it’s about representing all the people of a whole nation. He is acting on behalf of the president in the country that he is sent to. He knows his own culture and the culture of the country where he’s at very well. When my own country sends an ambassador to the United States, then they sent someone who is fully capable to represent and act on behalf of the kingdom of The Netherlands. In the same way the United States sends an ambassador to The Netherlands who is fully capable to represent and act on behalf of the United States of America. Now what is the aim of sending an ambassador abroad? It only has one aim, to restore or to maintain a good relationship between both nations.

When we read in the Bible, we can see that God wants to establish His Kingdom on earth. Not only in the future, but already here and now. Even Jesus pointed it out when He gave us the example prayer for each Christian, better known as the Lord’s prayer.

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
Amen.

Your kingdom come and Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Did you ever realized what this means? Jesus wasn’t talking about the new heaven and earth, He was teaching the people the prayer that should help them survive in this life. That means here and now. He wants heaven to touch the earth. At the moment you became a Christian, you lost your own nationality in the spiritual world. From that moment on you were no longer Dutch, American, Canadian, German, Spanish or whatever nationality. From that moment on you became a citizen of the Kingdom of God in the spiritual world. Sure, The Netherlands is the place on earth where I live and where I was born, but I no longer have the Dutch nationality. We are living in our country, but we’re just passing through, on our way to our destiny: Gods eternal Kingdom. Since 1999 I became a citizen of Gods Kingdom instead of the Kingdom of The Netherlands. That also means that I became a representative of that Kingdom, an ambassador. But it goes further then that! Heaven is not only our destiny, it is our home as well.

My favorite Bible teacher, Derek Prince, once made a very remarkable statement when he was preaching about the subject ‘knowing God as Father’. This is what he said: “What makes a house a home is a father.” Those are the kind of statements that make you think. In my case I thought a lot about it. Especially after my own father passed away in 2007. My own conclusion is that this statement is right. After he passed away, the house of my parents didn’t feel like home anymore. Something essential was missing. My father. The thing that makes heaven our home, is our heavenly Father. Without the Father, heaven can never feel like home. So when Jesus came to this earth, He came to represent the Kingdom of God, but He also came to represent Someone Who is way more important then that. He came to represent the Father. And who can represent a father better then a son can?

In many ways, Jesus was a very special man with a very special mission. For years we have believed that He only came to give us eternal life. But He did so much more then that! In this study I want to point out one of these ‘other’ things that He did for us. Until Jesus came, the people knew God only in that ways that He was revealed to them. When God revealed Himself to the people, He always did that by giving them one of His names. Name is identity and by revealing His names to the people, He showed them a part of His character. A few examples are:

El Elohim: God as Creator, Preserver, Transcendent, Mighty and Strong.
El Shaddai: God Almighty or God All Sufficient.
Adonai: Master or Lord
Jehovah: I am Who I am or I will be Who I will be
Jehovah Jireh: The Lord Who provides
Jehovah Rophe: The Lord Who heals
Jehovah Shalom: The Lord of peace

These are just a few names that God revealed to His people. All beautiful names which are showing Gods intentions for us. But when Jesus came He revealed God in a way that He was never revealed in before: as a Father. That was a very remarkable revelation. Until that point God was always known as a Lord and Master, never as a very personal Father Who wants a intimate relationship with His people. This revelation started when Jesus was at the age of 30 years. It all started with the Father, acknowledging His Son.

When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

Matthew 3:16,17

Jesus could only reveal the Father to the people after the Father had acknowledged Him. As God it was easy for Jesus to reveal His Father, but as a human being, just like you and me, He needed the Father’s acknowledgment just as we need it this present day. Once He received that, He was able to reveal the Father to the people. Because of the acknowledgement, He was also accepted and therefore He could break all the powers of rejection over the life’s of people by giving them the acceptance that God gave Him as well. Why did He do that? Because it was and is the will of His Father.

For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him (the Father) who sent Me.

John 6:38

It was not only the will of the Father that Jesus would reveal Him as a Father, He also wanted to give His acknowledgement and His acceptance to His people. Without that it is impossible to know Him as He really is or to do the things He has called us to. So here you see a glimpse of the character of Father God. Every single person has two basic emotional needs which are acceptance and security. Those both emotional needs are enabling us to become an emotional stable person and to deal with the emotional circumstances that are coming on our path of life. The lack of the acceptance of a father is one of the most common problems that we are facing today. But God wants to meet your emotional needs!

The most important thing that Jesus came to do was to restore mans relationship with the Father. In many cases we talking about the lost son, but we often forget that the Father is just as lost without us. Why? Because He loves us with an everlasting love. How would you feel when your son or daughter would not be able to have any form of relationship with you? As a parent it would hurt your heart. You would feel lost. You would have unbearable pain in your heart. That’s exactly how the Father felt about His creation that wasn’t able to have a relationship with Him. He made the first move by offering His Son Jesus Christ for us. That was a move out of pure love. The next step is up to us. What do we have to do?

At that time Jesus answered and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight. All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him. Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Matthew 11:25-30

You can only get to know the Father by revelation. That’s what this Bible verse is telling us. But Jesus also gave us the key: “…and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.” Who is the Son? Right, that is our Lord Jesus Christ and He can and will reveal the Father to anyone who wants to know Him. Only after that revelation the next part will come to pass. When the Father is revealed to you, He will give you His heart for you, for your family and for the nations. By knowing the Father and by accepting His love for you, you will receive the rest that Jesus is talking about. No one can come to the Father except through Jesus Christ. He is the one and only way. There’s no such thing as more ways to God, you can only come to Him through the One Who was crucified for your sins: Jesus Christ. Just ask Him to reveal the Father to you and He will do it.

Unfortunately there can be many things in our life’s why we can’t see or experience God as a Father. If you are not able to see Him as a Father or to experience His love as a Father, don’t worry. We’re here to help you to get to that point. You can find more studies related to this Father God on this website, where we will explain a whole lot more. Read these other studies, keep on praying and don’t give until you’ve got what you came for!

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

Matthew 7:7-11

Many times, when people read these verses, they ask and see nothing happen. They seek but cannot find etc. That can be very frustrating! As for me, I really didn’t understand why I couldn’t always find what I was looking for, until the Holy Spirit opened my eyes. While I was reading these verses, I saw them changing right before my eyes. He was changing the verses until it said the following:

“Keep on asking, and it will be given to you; keep on seeking, and you will find, keep on knocking, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who keeps on asking receives, and he who keeps on seeking finds, and to him who will keep on knocking it will be opened.”

While the Holy Spirit was changing these verses before my eyes, I suddenly understood what Jesus wanted to say! Suddenly it dawned to me and I realized that Jesus was talking about perseverance here! I never saw it that way until the Holy Spirit showed me. I always thought that I was doing something wrong since I was seeking and I couldn’t find. That made me so very disappointed and it felt like I wasn’t worthy or holy enough to get all His promises. But when the Holy Spirit opened my eyes, that all changed. It is all about perseverance. You need to push through. Set you heart to it, don’t stop asking Jesus to reveal the Father to you, don’t ever give up, no matter how you feel, and you will find it. But what if there are blockades? Then He will reveal those first and help you to get rid of them so you can come to the point where you will be able to receive the revelation of Father God. Remember, whatever you do, don’t give up! Never give up!
